Unisono 22: Micha Patiniott
Curiously Human

27 June - 3 October 2010
From 27 June to 3 October 2010, the Stedelijk Museum Schiedam will present the first solo exhibition in a museum of work by Micha Patiniott. The exhibition shows an overview of more than fifty works made in the past four years that are now largely in private or corporate collections.
The work of Micha Patiniott (1972) is based on his playful and humorous way of looking at everyday occurrences. In his work, trivial situations soon get out of hand and lead to poetic, bizarre or amusing images. Patiniott is primarily a story-teller. His paintings are impulses to anecdotes or scenes from a narrative. Viewers can let their own imaginations run riot with these signals. They can project their emotions on to them or use the ingredients on offer for their own interpretations. Patiniott's stories are unfinished. They do not confirm images, they create them.

Collectionpresentation Art after 1945
14 february 2010 - 12 april 2011

In 2010, the Schiedam Municipal Museum will present its Collection of Post-war Art. Starting point for this exhibition will be the new collection plan for Dutch Art after 1945. In this plan, the emphasis will be on the relationships between the core art collections. From the viewpoint of present-day art, a connection is made with NUL and CoBrA in five themes: War, Animals, Matter, Travel, Rhythm & Regularity.
The concept of the exhibition has been elaborated in conjunction with eleven final-year pupils of Schiedam Municipal Grammar School, acting as assistant curators. Along with the museum director, they selected the works, wrote the texts and came up with innovative ideas for the design and set-up of the exhibition.
